A Special gift - The Olivia Act

Along with so many others, I am still saddened by the events in Newtown CT this past week. That night I snuggled up with my boys much longer. My heart was just hurting for all of those parents who wouldn't be able to do that again.

Today I learned through another Photographer about The Olivia Act. Here is her story.

"Last night I had heard about Ann Curry's Random Acts of Kindness. After that I just kept thinking "What would be something I could do?" Then this morning I had heard about The Olivia Act. It is named after one of the children killed in Newtown, Connecticut's tragedy and was started by a fellow photographer. Olivia’s family had family pictures taken a short time before she was killed. Those pictures are precious and now priceless to them. Upon hearing this, the photographer was moved to give away a 30 minute family photo shoot and has challenged other photographers to do the same."

In honor of all those beautiful little babies and teachers who lost their lives, Photography by Alexandra Delatorre will be offering a 1 hour family session and all of the digital files to a family who hasn't had the resources to have good, professional photos captured of their family.

Now through January 1st, I will be taking nominations for this gift - if you or someone you know is this family, please drop me an email Photobyad@att.net. Don't post it here - any nominations received will be kept 100% confidential. I will select one family and let them know via email by January 15, 2013 that they were selected for a session to take place in 2013. Please share this so that anyone who may benefit from this gift, knows about it. Thank you!

If you are a photographer, I encourage you to join me and so many others.
I included the link to their Facebook page. There is lost of information available. Thank you : )

PS: When nominating a family, please include their names, address, email address and phone number. Thank you so very much.

Mac the Snoring Rottweiler

I thought I would share with you a newly every night occurrence that is one of a kind.
My office and studio is shared with my bud Mac, a 10 months old Rottweiler, who weighs in at around 100 pounds if not more. When its time for night night ~ lights out ~ I go to work ~ in my office and studio shared with who  ? Yup.... that's right MAC. While it used to be a very relaxing time, listening to music, kids are a sleeping, a nice cup of  coffee, editing images, answering emails, you know where I am getting at I think. When 8pm rolls around I usually could not wait to get into my zone and get started, well until about 1-2 months ago. Now ....... ?????

Take a look ~ turn up the volume and you will experience what I mean

go
hit
PLAY

: )))))))

You played it more than once, didn't you ?

2x
3x
4x

Which one ?

Pretty bad huh ? Can you believe a dog can snore so SO Loud ?

I sure didn't. Mac is our 4th Rottweiler and never did we ever have one that does this kind of sound.
I've turned up the volume on my speakers, even tried a head set,

He is LOUD

LOUD

LOUD

SNORE SNORE SNORE

OHHHH SO

LOUD

My lovely evenings now consist of yelling
....MAC ....
every 3-5 minutes or so

my zone  ~  gone

my harmony ~ gone

However, I love the dog, maybe in time, with a check up at the vet first, I will hear a different kind of music with all the sounds he can come up with.
Sip my coffee to a new rhythm
Work with a different tapping
and hope the night goes by fast.

I hope you have enjoyed my little story here and a peek in my daily life.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Hug and squeeze those pets of yours
they are precious
even when they snore like no man out there ( i think )

Hello Hello Hello

By FAR I am the luckiest girl on planet earth. I have never felt so humbled and smitten by all of my beautiful clients that have come to me this year and the years past. Thank you to each and every one of you. Without YOU my dreams could not have come true. I LOVE my work and I love what I do. Everything about it... and then some. All of you that I have become so close to, get to know and meet, keep in touch and see over and over again. It is by far my true honor to capture you and your family to the most natural way you all are so you can remember for years to come. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

As this year is coming to an end and the new year is about to begin, which I still cant believe, I do have many plans and adventures planed for the upcoming year. Some of which I said I would do before and never ended up doing them. I know .. I know ... but life takes over. Between kids and family ...which most of the time they do come first. : ))  and then work, the hobbies and so much more.  It is sometimes mind boggling how I keep up. I try my best and sometimes I succeed in what I say I will do and change and sometimes I don't. Blogging here is one of my hardest things to do. I am mover and a goer... all day long.

However, that said I do have many plans for next year and hopes I will follow them through and get much done and accomplished. My list is a mile long. From a new logo to web site to more posting images to so so so much. Since I had my surgery, I am down for a few months, which gives me the opportunity to do just that and hopefully catch up as well. It's amazing how much there is to owning your own business.

For now I would very much like you to enjoy your Pre-Christmas Season. Stop for a minute and breath ... don't let the stress get to you and remember what Christmas is all about.

I will try to return more often with news, post lots of images from sessions and then some more. For now,  I will let my foot heal and recover and work on my mile long list. My hopes are to begin shooting again in April, but check back for updates. Hopefully I can blow them doctors away with a faster recovery.

Come join me on Pinterest and Facebook if you can. There are many things happening too, wardrobe choices, session ideas and so much more.

For now I am wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Love, a. : )

Ohhh My GOSH ........

I had the pleasure and honor of spending time and photographing some amazing kids. I have to say, this IS why I LOVE my job so much. I had the best time and one I will never forget.
It was the perfect day. We all had such a fun time, talking, laughing, sharing stories, and taking pictures.
It really didn't feel like work at all, just out having a blast and a good time.
Did I mention this family was new to me and I never met them before, but after 5 minutes, it seemed like we knew each other for years.

This is what it's all about. Having fun, capturing your kids and family in their absolute natural way, their essence, remembering what a good time we had.

To the "B" Family, THANK YOU so so much. Your kids are absolutely fabulous, funny, cute, and make me laugh. You are amazing parents. I loved every minute with you guys and was bummed when the session ended. I can NOT wait to see you again and watch your children grow up.

Love, a.  : )

July 2011 Newsletter
Hello everyone,
I hope you all are enjoying your summer. I know it has been a rough one for many of us with storms, power loss, flooding and severe heat. Hang in there and enjoy the rest of the summer, because soon we will be shoveling snow again and whine because it’s cold. :)
It has been a very busy summer for me and my family. With kids out of school and trying to keep up with work has been a challenge but fun. Fishing, swimming, picnics, parties, friends, parks, baating and so on. I cant believe summer is almost of over and school is starting soon but, I have to admit, I am happy. LOL
I want to thank you - my wonderful clients that are so royal and patient with me. I just love you all and could not imagine this happening without you. You are truly making my dreams come true. SO:
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART  !!
With that all said, believe it or not Fall and Christmas is right around the corner. I know for some of you that is hard to believe but for me it isn’t. I look at my session calendar and I finally put together a schedule for all of you.
The fall schedule is out. WOOHOOO If you wish to schedule a session with me, I recommend to call the studio asap. 224-629-0424. I am only accepting a limited amount of clients to leave room for newborns and clients that have year long packages. I had to reduce my hours a tat in order to concentrate on faster editing and better customer service. The behind work is so much more then most think. It is not fair to you or me. So please CALL me if you wish to have a fall session, with pretty little trees and leaves. I will not be able to squeeze or make exception. I do have plenty of outdoor locations to choose from. Most all will be in the Cary area. Traveling to other locations will be on a first come service.
I will also have one weekend day mini session marathon for those wishing to use them for Christmas cards. The theme will be a huge surprise + only revealed to those interested. If you know me, it will be funky, unique, unusual, creative and tons and tons of fun. Contact me for details if you wish to schedule, 224-629-0424 or are interested in this event. A special price package will be made available and sessions will be 15-30 min long with 2-3 digital images for you to use.
Dead line for all sessions will be December 4th. The studio will then be closed until January. More details to come on the exact dates.
In 2012 lots of changes will be happening. New Logo, blog, web site, services, packages, better customer service, and so so much more. It will BLOW you away. I cant wait to share it with you all, but for now it’s a little secret and a big surprise. So be on the look out in January for all the details.
If you have any questions, concerns, comments or whatever your heart desires, please just call me or drop me an email.
Love, a : )
